Body shaping without surgery

Injection lipolysis – the “lipodissolve” treatment

Small and stubborn fat deposits, resistant to any diet and exercise, can now be removed permanently without any surgical procedure. The injection lipolysis – technique is able to target circumscribed body areas, especially double chin, inner knee or so called “tiny wing” zones, the areas between breast and upper arm.

CoolSculpting® procedure

Cryolipolysis is a new, non-invasive procedure with a cooling energy device for effective, permanent and gentle fat removal in specific body areas. A distinct, natural looking fat reduction will be induced.

What is CoolSculpting® ?

The term CoolSculpting® is based on the cryolipolysis procedure. Cryolipolysis is a new, non-surgical way to effectively reduce fat in specific subcutaneous body areas in a gentle manner. The results is a distinct, natural-looking and permanent fat reduction in the treated body areas.

What is the treatment approach?

The CoolSculpting® procedure is a highly developed cooling technology intended for the targeted, localized reduction of fatty tissue and approved in Switzerland. A special handpiece, the vacuum applicator is used to suck the tissue and cool it down for just one hour homogenously.

What is the clue?

The method works because adipose tissue cells are very sensitive to cold temperature. They freeze, but not the surrounding tissue – skin, connective tissue, nerves and vessels. Only the fat cells are destroyed by the CoolSculpting® method. The body completely metabolizes the remaining fat cell residues. The fat reduction is expected up to 40%, and the associated reduction in circumference, becomes clearly visible in most patients within a 1 – 3 months period. The CoolSculpting® procedure is not a solution for overweight, nor is it a replacement for traditional body contouring methods such as liposuction for body contouring. Clinical studies have shown that fat cells are removed naturally, gently and effectively, but  the results vary from person to person.

What is injection lipolysis?

It is a minimally invasive, low-pain injection procedure for long-term elimination of cosmetically disturbing, small fat deposits. Side effects and complications are rare events. The main active ingredient of the injected solution is deoxycholic acid (a secondary bile acid). The solution also contains phosphatidylcholine (lecithin from soybeans) and is usually given intravenously to treat fat embolism and to reduce blood lipids. Furthermore, a vitamin cocktail consisting of vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is added to the injection solution. This fatdissolving injection treatment was first mentioned in 1995, and since this time used worldwide and millions of times in “off-label use”, i.e. without approval for this fat reduction indication. Without any surgery, small fat deposits can be permanently removed from various areas of the body, such as the chin, the inner knee, or perhaps in the “little wing” areas, on the side of the chest towards the upper arm.

What is the treatment approach?

The special solution is directly injected in the adipous tissue with a very fine needle, similar to a “anti-thrombosis syringe”. The fat cell membranes become unstable and the lipids are discharged from these fat cells.

What is the clue?

In the following days and weeks the body completely metabolizes the destroyed fat cells. Consequently, the fat cells can no longer fill up or grow larger again, but are eliminated. This procedure is usually repeated once, after an interval of 12 weeks. The total fat reduction is up to 60% and clearly visible in most patients within 2 – 3 months after procedure.
